GM And DTE Break Ground For Area's Largest Solar Power Array
General Motors and DTE Energy have broken ground on the largest solar panel array in Southeast Michigan at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant. This 264,000 square foot project, a 516-kilowatt installation, is projected to save GM $3 million in plant operation costs and is part of DTE Energy's SolarCurrents pilot program. The plant, which currently builds the Chevy Volt, Cadillac DTS, and Buick Lucerne, is also anticipating future job growth and product expansion.
