FCC approves AT&T $1 billion purchase of spectrum from UScellular
The Federal Communications Commission has approved AT&T's $1.02 billion acquisition of wireless spectrum licenses from UScellular. This approval came after AT&T committed to ending its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, a condition the FCC has imposed on telecom carriers since President Donald Trump's return to office. The deal, while expected to enhance AT&T's network, has drawn criticism from the Rural Wireless Association, which fears it will harm competition and lead to increased rates and roaming difficulties in rural areas.
